Easy to use: Total Adblock is very easy to set up. When we went into our Chrome browser, we didn’t have to navigate to extensions. We simply searched “Total Adblock,” and the extensions page came up with it ready. We had it installed and running in less than 3 minutes.
Strong ad blocking capabilities: We also like that it does a good job blocking ads everywhere, even on our phones. The extension dashboard shows you what’s being blocked on each site in a convenient drop-down widget. This includes intrusive ads that may show up in YouTube videos.
Though Total Adblock does have a free plan, you'll be prompted to upgrade to the paid program. While the requests aren’t constant, they’re still present and a little annoying. We also weren’t thrilled that the free plan excludes a lot of websites.

Competitive price: Surfshark offers a lot of comprehensive services for a relatively low price. In addition to CleanWeb, Surfshark One offers a VPN and antivirus. The best thing about all these features is the ability to use them on unlimited devices.
Holistic approach to security: Surfshark has evolved significantly over the years, and we like that it’s always focused on improved security. Because of that, CleanWeb also keeps an eye out for malware or other malicious things on the internet. You can even purchase a plan with identity theft protection if you really want a robust security stack.
CleanWeb isn’t that great if you want to block trackers, scoring only a 0.5 out of the three areas we tested. Trackers can follow you around the internet creating a profile of you, which can also compromise your security. We wish CleanWeb did a better job of blocking them.

File scanner: The file scanner is one of our favorite features, because it scans the files you download. If you’ve ever wondered if that email file is safe, Nord can check it before you open it and possibly unleash Pandora’s digital box.
NordVPN Threat Protection is more expensive than your average ad blocker because you’re also getting NordVPN. The dashboard within the app lets you toggle between the VPN agent, Meshnet, and Threat Protection, which is a lot offered, but it can get pricey, especially since the devices max out at 10.

The firewall is actually a little too good. When we have it active, it blocks pictures in emails, stops some app operations, and cuts things out of websites. We know all of these blocked items are linked to cookies and trackers, but we ended up disabling the firewall for everyday use.

uBlock Origin may no longer work in Chrome-based applications due to Google’s restrictions on filter lists. Because uBlock Origin uses millions of filters in order to function, it no longer meets Chrome's requirements.
To continue using uBlock Origin, switch to another browser. You could also install uBlock Origin Lite on your Chrome browser, but our tests found it to be much less effective in blocking tracking ads than the full version.
Adblock Plus offers a great free product that can protect you online. Its upgraded version does a lot, but you can use the free version and get decent protection without having to worry about ever being charged a fee.
