NordPass: Best for bundled security services
Who it’s best for
NordPass is best for anyone who wants a password manager that can be bundled with other security products like cloud storage and a VPN.
If you’re an older adult looking for increased security or a family member who wants to help increase security, this is a great choice for a password manager. All of Nord’s products are kept in a single dashboard, so there’s no need to worry about switching between the bundled products. It’s all easily accessible and at your fingertips.
VPNs help secure your internet connection by encrypting your data and masking your IP address. VPNs are especially helpful if you use an unsecured Wi-Fi connection — or if you simply want to maintain your privacy online and block advertisers from tracking you.

What we liked
We like that Nord offers a dashboard for all products that can be expanded into each individual service’s own dashboard. It’s clean and organized and works well for anyone who has technology anxiety.
Because of the amount of information that can be stored in NordPass, it can act as a secure vault for a variety of personal items like your Social Security administration credentials, bank account info, digital copies of important documents, and any other digital files you’d like protected.
NordPass offers a lot of the same features as other password managers like a password generator, which helps make sure none of your passwords are weak or reused.
The compatibility with a variety of operating systems and browsers allows seniors to sync across all devices. For example, this eliminates frustration when you’re trying to sign into your mobile banking on your phone when you also have the account on your laptop.
Since a lot of people own a variety of devices — Apple, Samsung, Windows, Android, etc — NordPass’s compatibility bridges the gap so there’s no frustration with logins.
What we didn’t like
The free version is limited to a single device, which means to get all the syncing benefits you’ll need to pay for a subscription. Many older Americans are on fixed incomes, and this could be a hindrance to using a service like NordPass.

RoboForm: Best features
Who it’s best for
RoboForm is best for anyone looking for a lot of features to accompany their password manager. In addition to the regular features included in most password managers, like form fillers and password generators, RoboForm offers a master password restore in case you forget the master password for your RoboForm account.
Additionally, RoboForm offers a password change history. This way you can see the metrics of your password history. This can help determine if an account has been hacked and let you move quickly to change the credentials and secure your account.
We also liked RoboForm’s customer service options. Many older adults aren’t comfortable with email or self-help guides. RoboForm offers live chat and phone support in addition to email via a support ticket. The variety of support options should fit anyone’s comfort level.
What we liked
We appreciate the extra features and variety of customer support options available from RoboForm. During our testing, we found the live chat experience was positive.
RoboForm offered a simple and intuitive setup that imported our passwords from other places they were stored. This made it extremely easy to begin using RoboForm right away. It also helped us get our passwords out of Chrome because Google’s password manager isn’t safe.
Another bonus was the fact that RoboForm has never suffered a data breach. Not all of these services can claim that honor. Hacked password managers can release all of your most personal details, so put that on your list of things to check for when shopping for password management software.
What we didn’t like
Even though the customer service options are robust, we weren’t the biggest fans of the ticket method RoboForm uses for support. It took almost 11 hours for us to get an initial response. To respond to that, we had to log back into our RoboForm portal rather than being able to email back directly. This is less than ideal.
If you’re trying to access an account or quickly require access to your personal information, waiting this long could become a problem.
It was all very cumbersome and somewhat outdated. We also noted that the free plan lacks key features such as access on all devices, which is why we recommend one of the paid plans for RoboForm.

Dashlane: Best free password manager
Who it’s best for
Dashlane is a great choice for anyone looking for a free password manager with good features. Whether you’re on a fixed income or aren’t sure you want to commit to a monthly subscription, Dashlane’s free version offers a lot.
What we liked
We liked that Dashlane offered almost all of its features with the free product. There's a limitation with how many passwords you can save, but for people looking to protect only sensitive information like bank accounts and Social Security logins, this could work.
If you do decide to upgrade, we like that the paid version offers a VPN and unlimited passwords. Sometimes VPNs with a lot of features can be intimidating, so having a simpler version is a nice way to boost your safety.
Many competitors offer the digital legacy feature with paid subscriptions, but Dashlane offers this with its free product. It also includes password health scores. If Dashlane finds a compromised or reused password, it’ll prompt you and help you fix the issue. Overall, it’s an intuitive and useful product.
What we didn’t like
All of these free features are only available on one device; to get more, you’ll need a paid plan. If you want unlimited passwords, you’ll also need a paid subscription as Dashlane restricts storage to 25 passwords.
Also, we found the privacy policy a little confusing. Dashlane does share passwords with “affiliates,” but we aren’t sure if that’s internal or third-party. There’s no clarification for this in the privacy policy.
